In March 2020 Harrogate Integrated Facilities (HIF) were asked to train the Porters based at the Nightingale Hospital Based in Harrogate.
The Portering Services team were sent a group of trainees to be put through their paces. After two to three weeks of intense training, the trainees were ready to go it alone and carry out their Portering roles, including duties such as patients moves, stores deliveries, waste collection and much more.
Thankfully, we never had to escalate to the Nightingale Hospital meaning it was never used for its initial purpose, allowing the HIF Portering Services team to successfully recruit these staff in to many Portering roles at Harrogate District Hospital, all becoming vital members of the team.
